At 11 am GMT (Glasgow Mean Time) the draw for the play off rounds of the UEFA Champions League will take place and our opponents will be known.
Whoever we get, Celtic will be installed as favourites, there are in fact only 2 European teams with the rest made up of UEFA’s satelites in Asia.
It would be preferable to skip Qarabağ of Azerbaijan, Astana of Kazakhstan and last years play off opponents Hapoel Beer-Sheva of Israel due to the travel and the heat.
We have also played all of these teams recently in competitive games, albeit with the former of the three under Ronny Deila.
Earlier in pre season, we played against a plucky Slavia Prague with the match finishing 0-0.
The last of the teams it would appear to be the hardest, Croatians have a Footballing ethic of the highest order and a game from Rijeka would be far from a walk over.
Either way, if we wish to play the likes of the Spaniards, Italians, Germans, English and French then we would expect to beat any of these clubs.
With 30 million at stake, nothing short of victory will do.
Hopefully, there will be many more early mornings and all nighters for Hoops fans beneath the Southern Cross with European nights against the best club teams on the planet.
