OzBhoy Leo Mazis has officially signed for Celtic and has trained with the first team.
The 17-year-old from Belconnen in Canberra has followed Tom Rogic to Celtic and like Big Tam, will need to prove himself in the Developmental league first.
His dream of first team football may not take as long however, with injuries to Patrick Roberts, Tom Rogic, Stuart Armstrong and Mikey Johnstone, the midfield has been ravaged.
If he impresses with the development squad he may well find himself on the bench before long.
Rodgers is a huge fan of youth and picks players on form and not reputation.
Speaking to the Celtic website, Leo said of his time in Scotland:
“Training has been unbelievable so far,” he said. “I’ve loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to play some games.
“All the boys have been great with me so I’m settling in well and coaches have been fantastic, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
“My dream is to one day play for the first team but obviously right now I’m only concentrating on just getting settled and getting game time in the Development Squad. I need to find my feet a bit and take things a step at a time.”
Those steps will hopefully come quickly for the Aussie prodigy, it is in both Celtic and Australia’s interests that like Tom Rogic, that he develops into a lethal footballer capable of playing at all levels.
