The Scotsman has reported that Southampton are planning a fresh raid on Celtic and this time the target is none other than Tom Rogic.
It is a step up from Leeds, well for the next 3 games depending on their ability to preserve their Premiership standing, but still a poor move for the talented Australian.
Rogic deserves better than to play in the English Championship or at the bottom of the Premiership, he is a far better player than that and hopefully he will consider his future at Celtic where European Football and trophies are on offer.
His displays in all the derbies he has played this year have shown him to be a big game player that the Newco have absolutely no way of containing, whilst he is in the team we look a different level.
Brendan has said he will not stand in the way of a move, however, the board must come to the table with an offer to good to refuse.
That we have brought Musonda in on large money to sit on the bench whilst Rogic has been allowed to enter the last year of his contract is a major error.
The tried and tested Aussie should be the priority in the midfield, not just now but for years to come.
We saw over the summer the pantomime which was Stuart Armstrong’s contract extension, something which unsettled the player who looks a shadow of the man who scored belters all the time last year.
The same mistakes can’t be made with Rogic.
With Australia due to play France, Denmark and Peru, the Socceroos star will be able to showcase his wares to the world and may yet earn an offer from a major club.
Hopefully, he will be secured to Celtic before he leaves for Russia, whatever money can be earned from a prospective transfer will not be enough to replace him in the team.
Tom Rogic is a winner, a bumper deal to keep him in Hoops is a must.
